It's a French word for 'Earth. The collection evokes the textures, colours and essence of earth in both literal and metaphorical sense. It's the abstract representation of landscapes, dirt patterns and geological formation using raw pigments, sand, clay, rock etc. These natural materials help create a tactile surface that mimics the ruggadness of the earth. Only after letting the rugged landscapes dry for a month, they are sprayed in layers with pure pigments. The lengthy process gives the works a mineral texture that accentuates the mounds, ridges and crevasses. The pigments absorb the light, creating a push and pull between the shapes and shadows, providing a different visual experience. The minimalistic, monochromatic collection fluctuates between sculptures and paintings.
